Interview: 10 questions

1. When did you start making music, what is/was your motivation to do it?
I was 15 years old and the reason/motivation was the inner passion for music in general.

2. Tell me something about your living environment and the musical education.
After my grammar school I went to Janacek Academy of music (Brno, Czech republic), used two interships to discover the music and culture of Romania and Lithuania, now I’m continuing at the Janacek Academy as a doctorate student, but, as usually in my case, from distance. Now I live in Spain.

3.Is making music your profession? What is the context in which you practice music nowadays?
I devote every day to writing and doing music, but I don’t live from it. For living I give classes of piano.

4. How do you compose or create music or sound? Have you certain principles, use certain styles etc?
Principles, styles are slightly changing. Normally I “create” music/sound in a tradicional way – I use pencil, paper. I write a lot of words, how I want the sound to go, how to “live” etc.

5. Tell me something about the instruments, technical equipment or tools you use?
Table, pencil, paper, piano, computer programm for notation (when is for ensemble or musician who require it, I prefer handwriting), sometimos to create electronics I use simple things – recording ambient, putting it to computer, through some programs to loop it, or cut it, put some echoes etc – the rest is done within the context…

6. What are the chances of New Media for the music production in general and you personally?
Huge, depends from the point of view

7. How about producing and financing your musical productions?
This is difficult

8. Do you work individually as a musician/soundartist or in a group or collaborative?
Individually, occassionaly with someone (although is often refreshing and nice experience)

9. Is there any group, composer, style or movement which has a lasting influence on making music?
There are a lot of composers, styles, things which influence my work.
If you need names – significant composers: Cage (although I don’t listen to his music so often, but sure he does have some influence), Pärt, Górecki (purity of style, emocional richness), Lutoslawski, Kilar, Smolka, Reich, Debussy, Kurtág, Grisey, Kutavicius…

10. What are your future plans or dreams as a soundartist or musician?
To make a lot of new projects, try different things, to enrich myself..
