Interview: 10 questions

1.When did you start making music, what is/was your motivation to do it?
In 1990 I lived in Norwich, UK working with various art projects and got involved in a project together with drama and music students at University of East Anglia. I got the chance to work with musicians and dancers as well as some hands on experience of their electronic music studio which led to that I made a piece for three musicians and three dancers.

2. Tell me something about your living environment and the musical education.
I live in Stockholm, Sweden and work in the studios at EMS (Institue for Electroacoustic Music in Sweden). I’m an active member of Fylkingen a society, consisting primarily of practicing artists, devoted to the production and promotion of new music and intermedia art.

3.Is making music your profession? What is the context in which you practice music nowadays?
Yes, in the sound art and experimental music field.

4. How do you compose or create music or sound? Have you certain principles, use certain styles etc?
Context related. At the moment I am examining the performative aspects and cultural differences in the concert and the sound-installation situation.

5. Tell me something about the instruments, technical equipment or tools you use?
Computer’s, software such as Max/MSP, self built instruments, controllers and synths.

6. What are the chances of New Media for the music production in general
and you personally?

In both cases good.

7. How about producing and financing your musical productions?
Somehow it always seems to work out.

8. Do you work individually as a musician/soundartist or in a group or collaborative? If you have experience in both, what is the difference, what do you prefer?
Collaborations are one of my main interests but I enjoy working on my on as well.

9. Is there any group, composer, style or movement which has a lasting influence on making music?
John Cage

10. What are your future plans or dreams as a soundartist or musician?
More of the same and more commissions
